An antipode is the point on Earth's surface diametrically opposite to oneself. In JC Maynard's "Antipo̊de" (embellished with an "o̊" diacritic to resemble an actual antipode), two cellos intertwine in a metrically virtuosic dance—at times playing together, and at other times dueling for dominance. In this way, the two sides of the earth explore groovy syncopations to find balance with a frenzy of asymmetrical meter.
